A Bit of History

Nearly 1000 feet deep and 24 miles long, Scotland’s Loch Ness is believed by many to be home to the unidentified aquatic creature affectionately dubbed ” Nessie”. The Loch Ness monster is an alleged plesiosaur-like creature, with many sightings of the “monster” having been recorded, going back at least as far as St. Columba in the 6th century.

Whatever Nessie turns out to be, it is unlikely that she is a plesiosaur and since the monster story has been around for more than 1500 years, it is not likely that it is the same monster seen by St Columba. Or are we to believe that not only is Nessie very big, she is very old as well, a veritable Methuselah among beasts. In short there must be more than one monster.

A few thoughts for when you settle down on the banks of Loch Ness for your audience with Nessie:

3 August 2012 Daily Mail Headline ” The most convincing Nessie photograph ever’: Skipper claims to have finally found proof that Loch Ness Monster exists”

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2183094/Skipper-claims-finally-proof-Loch-Ness-Monster-exists.html

and school children in Louisiana are to be taught that the Loch Ness monster is real in a bid by religious educators to disprove Darwin’s theory of evolution.”

A glass or two of Nessie’s Monster Mash is a must before seeking an audience with the Monster!
